Sweet treats

We had a busy few days of planning and baking for our family wedding shower this past weekend.
I tried a few new cookie recipes and they worked very well.
It was fun to make jam cookies for the first time. I used a basic sugar cookie recipe and cut out equal numbers of each shape, then cut a hole in half of them.
Here's how they are put together.

After baking the cookies, take two matching shapes.

I spread seedless raspberry jam on the solid cookie
and sprinkled icing sugar on the other half.

Sandwich them together. Yum!

It was fun to make different shapes.

I think it is best to make these cookies a day before you need them. The jam softens the cookies just enough to make them hold together well and not crumble when you bite into them.

And what about all the holes that are cut out of half the cookies?
We iced and decorated them, too!

There were lots of sweet treats at the shower, at least there were when we started!

And speaking of sweet treats, Leo kept us giggling for three wonderful days!

The mother-baby bond is so beautiful to behold.

The Grandpa-grandbaby bond is pretty special, too!

Have a sweet day,

Warm Hearts

We've had a few snowy, cold days this week, and today was especially wintry. With slippery roads and loads of new snow, I thought I'd be lonely at our little Glanworth Library. Not so! I had the pleasure of the company of a few crafty kids who decorated hearts as quickly as I could cut them out.

So sweet!

Last week we had a very busy, crafty morning as well.

While the kids were being creative around the table...

...there was one little cutie-pie...

 under the table!

Well, speaking of cutie-pies, our little Leo is now three months old!

You just have to grin back at him, don't you?

This little Valentine sure warms our hearts!

 Love,

Judy Ann

2016!

Whoa, we are already 11 days into the new year and I'm just now writing my first blog post of 2016!
It's been a pretty good start to the new year, but not much snow.
I decided we needed to encourage some wintry weather by
making snowmen on Saturday morning in our little Glanworth library.
Aren't they funny?
Our crafting must have worked because today we have new snow and a cold wind!

Photos by Sharon Broersma. (Thank you, Sharon!)

What would a blog post be without a Leo photo? His proud mom sent this photo showing Leo just starting to notice his new toys. Ah-h-h!

Enjoy your day,

Reaching for Leo!

What a delightful batch of celebratory days we have been enjoying!
One of the highlights is watching family members
reach for Leo and get to know him, even just a little.

Here is Grandpa...

...and Grandma...

...and Uncle Denny...

...and Auntie Em...

...Aunt Heather...

...cousins galore...

...and Great Oma...

...and great uncles and great aunts...

...all taking a few minutes to meet the newest member of the family.

Leo is a lucky little guy!

And we are a very lucky family.

All the best,

Judy Ann

Images of Christmas

It's tricky, isn't it, to take a moment here and there during this extra-busy season,
to appreciate the comical...

...creative...

...yummy...

...charming...

...delightful...

...celebratory...

...musical...

...wondrous...

...and perfectly perfect moments.

I'm trying to appreciate them all!

I wish you some lovely moments, too.

December!

As I've written about before on this blog, in the Sadler family, we kind of ignore Christmas until December 1st, then we get right into it! I decided to begin with paper chains to decorate our little Glanworth library. I had a wonderful helper!

Look who else is getting ready for the big day!

Enjoy your day,

Judy Ann
