A little sunshine

We could all use a little sunshine these days, so yesterday we made sun catchers at our lovely, little Glanworth library.

For each sun catcher, cut out two 5-inch circles from clear adhesive vinyl. Peel off the paper backing from one circle and place it sticky side up on the table. Stick on tissue-paper shapes, fine ribbon, small sparkly bits, and sprinkle on glitter. Peel the paper off the other circle and apply it sticky side down on top of the first circle.
Trim away any sticky vinyl from around the edges.

Try to find time for a little creativity,

Review of Nothing

I'm so excited for May 1st when Nothing Happens in This Book, illustrated with Vigg's fabulous, delightful and whimsical art, will be released. Here's an early, lovely review.

From Publishers Weekly:

"Canadian illustrator Vigg brings a retro sensibility to the spreads with a restrained palette of yellowish-brown, olive green, and brick red, and his figures sport the cheerful grins and wide-open eyes of cartoon characters."

This passage is fun, too:

"Sadler keeps the pace at a quick march, building smoothly from quiet stillness to riotous fortissimo..."

Isn't "riotous fortissimo" wonderful? It perfectly captures what is happening in the book (not that anything—ahem—happens in this book). But really, who needs a better review than Leo's, when, after reading the story for the first time, he said,

Leo still loves to read it and knows some of the lines off-by-heart!
He makes my heart sing!

I hope you have someone to make your heart sing, too.

What great joy it gave me to present Leo with a copy of, Nothing Happens in this Book. He listened attentively, turned the pages on cue, and responded to my questions and comments as we read the story. The best part? As soon as we finished, he flipped the book back to the beginning and said, "Again!"

Now I need to give a copy to this little sweetie pie!

Enjoy your day,
