Sneak Peek!

Last week my publisher, Kids Can Press, sent me the Spring 2018 catalogue. I thought that was very nice of them. I started leafing through it and then I realized just why they sent it!

I'm going to have to wait a few months to get my hands on a real copy, but it sure is fun to see Nothing Happens In This Book already in a catalogue. I can hardly wait to share the real book with this little guy

and this one, too!

Thankfully, I never have to wait very long to get my hands on these lovebugs!

Enjoy your day,

Look who visited...

...the Glanworth library!

Leo felt right at home with books and toys and was a great help at the desk!

It won't be long before Nash will be interested in books and toys, too.

But right now, he's still a sleepyhead.

Ahhh. Sleep is good.

Enjoy,

A busy morning!

It was an unusually busy morning at our lovely little Glanworth library
last Saturday morning.

Everyone was busy reading...

...crafting...

!
...looking...

...choosing...

... or playing...

...indoors and out!

A little way down the road from the library, there was one tiny lovebug not busy at all!

I hope you are busy with good stuff, too, or just catching up on your sleep.

Enjoy,

Judy Ann

At last!

For months now, we have been saying, the new baby this, and the new baby that,
 and when the baby comes
we will do this, and do you think we will need a...

...or a...

...and when oh when will the new baby be born?

Well, the wait is over! He has arrived!

He is beautiful, content and, well, perfect!

There is great happiness all around!

He's a firstborn, a grandson, a great grandson, nephew, great nephew and cousin,
and already he is cherished and LOVED!

Welcome to the world, darling Nash! We are filled with
gratitude, relief, joy and love now that you are here.

Springtime crafts

We've been enjoying some Easter and Springtime crafts at our little Glanworth library. I found some inexpensive, colourful Styrofoam eggs to transform into...

...whimsical chicks!

Pipe cleaners and pompoms combined to make funny bunnies, too!

So cute!

Speaking of cuties, these are two of my favourites!

Happy Easter,

Judy Ann

Sewing time

It's been far too long since I've had any time for sewing.
I almost forgot how much I like it!

My first project was to finish Leo's quilt. I feel badly that it took me so long
to get back to it, but sometimes it just can't be helped.

This pinwheel pattern is fun and playful.

I enjoyed "doodling" all over it with swirls, hearts, words and waves.

I had fun making this double-sided receiving blanket out of whimsical flannelette.
It's a fairly simple project but the results are sturdy and cosy.

I also made this zippered pouch using a free tutorial from Noodlehead.
I used heavier fabric on the outside

and quilting cotton for the inside lining.

A very handy project!

I hope you have time to feed your creative soul,

Judy Ann

A Little Magic

There was a little magic in the air at our lovely Glanworth library on Saturday when we made pretty, decorated and beribboned wands!

There's a little magic in the air at the Byron library, too. In mid-January we decided to take on a charitable project, so we asked for eight-inch knitted squares that we can stitch together to make blankets for those in need. We set up a basket with knitting needles and yarn so that our patrons could sit and knit in the library as well as at home.

The response has been amazing! There are so many kind knitters willing to donate their yarn, time, and talents. Look at the piles of squares we have already, and there are more coming in all the time! We will soon organize a sewing bee and get some blankets made. See what I mean about there being some magic in the air?

And there's always magic in the air when Leo is around!

I hope there's a little magic in your life as well.

Puppy

With the blog-post title, "Puppy," you likely expect to see a floppy-eared, loveable, silky-soft young dog, right? Well, I know someone who would LOVE to have a real puppy (or any dog at all), but she isn't quite ready. So, instead, I made her a different kind of puppy-dog.

The pattern is from a fun book called,
Mini Knitted Toys by Sachiyo Ishii.

She liked her new puppy and decided it could be a purse puppy.
Not quite what she wanted, but a little less work than the real thing.

And, now for a little someone cuter than any puppy could ever be...

Enjoy your day,

Judy Ann

The story of a Hat

I'm trying to keep Leo supplied with cosy hats, a task that is a great pleasure. He needed one that could be fastened under his chin so that it would stay in place. He has a habit of pulling them off! I had fun going through patterns and chose one from my favourite hat book, Baby Beanies by Amanda Keeys. I made the size I thought would fit, but it turned out bigger than I had planned:

(I always like the look of the top of a knitted hat.)

I decided to make another one a little smaller:

But when we tried the small hat on Leo, it was too small!

The large one fit quite well.

We tied it under his chin and for a while...

...he actually forgot he was wearing it!

But eventually, he realized!

Hopefully, when he's out in the cold, our little Leo will keep
his cosy-warm hat on his sweet little head.

Stay warm and well,

Judy Ann
